celticman > December 2010: Should I stay or should I go now?
December 2010 was meant to be the month I turned it around. I’d play my games in hand, get close to the top of the league and get ready to win it!
However I had mixed fortunes;
The month started with an excellent 5-0 win against Dinamo Bucharest, ensuring qualification for the Europa League knock-out stage. Tthen a win against Aberdeen, using a new 4-2-3-1 formation (the difference from the others is Commons is an inside forward (attack)) suggested by xdye17 made me believe it was turning around.
However continuing with this formation against Kilmarnock did not have any success in two games
Against Werder Bremen, I played 4-1-4-1, and since I had already qualified, I rested a lot of players because the league games are now more important.
Though what a waste – against Hamilton and St. Johnstone we were beaten despite dominating.
With failure after failure, morale was low, however another tactical change to 442 worked against league leaders Motherwell.
Roles/duties;
GK: Goalkeeper (Defend)
DR/DL: Full-back (Automatic)
DCs: Central Defender (Defend)
MR/ML: Winger (Attack)
MCl: Ball-Winning Midfielder (Defend)
MCr: Advanced Playmaker (Support)
FCl: Advanced Forward (Attack)
FCr: Deep-Lying Forward (Support)
Note the high % of shots on target! For once I dominated like I should. But just as I thought, maybe we can turn the SPL campaign round, the 1st of January game against Rangers was lost and Kris Commons, my best player, got sent off.
Lukaku was terrible during this game, missing so many chances.
I feel like quitting and starting over. This is now the worst I have ever done with Celtic in any football manager game in my career. Just look at the league table.
As The Clash would say should I stay or should I go now? Can I turn it [...]
